Description

Asterix and the Chieftain’s Shield” is the eleventh volume in the Asterix comic book series created by writer René Goscinny and illustrator Albert Uderzo. It was first published in 1968.

In this story, Chief Vitalstatistix of the Gaulish village is concerned about the safety of his shield, which he believes is the secret to his invincibility. He entrusts the shield to Asterix and Obelix for safekeeping, but it is stolen during the night. The two Gauls set out to recover the shield and restore the chief’s confidence.

Their quest takes them to Lutetia (modern-day Paris), where they encounter a variety of characters, including a group of Roman legionnaires, a tribe of Germanic warriors, and a young boy named Justforkix. Along the way, they engage in several humorous and action-packed adventures, and eventually recover the stolen shield.

As with all Asterix books, “Asterix and the Chieftain’s Shield” is full of clever wordplay, cultural references, and visual gags. It remains a beloved classic of the series, and is considered by many fans to be one of the best Asterix books ever written.
