Description

The story tells of Arion, a gifted musician from Lesbos, who travels to Sicily to compete in a musical contest. He wins with his enchanting melodies, but on his return journey, the greedy sailors aboard his ship plot to steal his prize money and throw him overboard.

Facing death, Arion pleads with the gods and pours his heart out in one last, magnificent song. His music reaches the ears of a dolphin, who is moved by its beauty and comes to his rescue. Arion clings to the dolphin’s back, and the creature carries him safely to shore.
