Three Tales is a collection of three short stories by French author Gustave Flaubert, first published in 1877.
The stories are:
- A Simple Heart (Un Cœur Simple): This story follows the life of Félicité, a devoted servant who pours her love into her employers and their possessions. As she ages, she confronts loss and questions the meaning of her life.
- The Legend of Saint Julian the Hospitaler (La Légende de Saint Julien l’Hospitalier): This story is a retelling of a medieval legend about a man who unknowingly murders his parents and then spends the rest of his life performing acts of charity and hospitality.
- Herodias (Hérodias): This story is based on the biblical story of Salome and John the Baptist. It explores the themes of obsession, revenge, and the power of dance.
