The White Tiger: Booker Prize Winner 2008 is a classic novel which lays light on a person of the deprived section of the society, who is desperate to come out of his misery and lead an independent life. In order to free himself from the clutches of social and financial misery, he indulges in the negative and shady activities and is unapologetic about them as he pompously justifies them. The protagonist, Balram Halwai, was born and brought up in a small village. Though he was a bright student, Balram had to discontinue his studies due to bad financial position of his family.

  1. Mayuri R (Verified Purchase)

First of all I found it really hard to digest the genre in which it falls in- Fiction. Any honest Indian cannot deny that the plight and the mistreatment which is faced by the protagonist is a commonplace around the country. Exceptionally simple and easy to read and the reader can expect a lot of dark sarcasm and negativity.

  2. Saad Athanikar (Verified Purchase)

I picked this book because this “booker prize” wala stuff. But the way writer has justified the murder I didn’t like that part

  3. amar tiwary (Verified Purchase)

Excellent book…worthy of the acclaim it has received. You feel sorry and angry at the same time for the protagonist/antagonist who shows you what reality is.

  4. Sai Kalva (Verified Purchase)

One of the best books read. It is so realistic and so damn true.
I love harper collins publications. Excellent paper quality and super fonts.

Interesting read. Written in a plain and simple Language. I loved the book and the realities it tries to potray in the name of fiction.
