I thought the book was written for a general audience not for young people (12 – 15 year olds) I think my granddaughter will love it. The story was good and I did finish the book and am now on the second one. I just wish the characters were older so I could get into it more.
Sorry, but this is book 2. My review was for book 1; The Red Pyramid. Book 2 is looking good. I enjoy the humor on both of them. Great for kids.

Rick Riordan is a master writer. He can put more truth into fewer words than I believed possible. Plus he has an amazing sense of humor! How could you go wrong reading his books? I liked The Kane Chronicles better than the books about the Greeks that I have read so far,but I think that is purely personal. From the BA and grad studies in Classics I know the Greeks so well…But that shouldn’t be a problem for many people!
