Description
“The Stand” is a post-apocalyptic horror novel written by Stephen King. It was originally published in 1978 and later re-released in an expanded and revised edition in 1990. The novel is one of King’s most acclaimed works and is considered a classic of the horror genre.
The story is set in a world where a deadly influenza pandemic, known as Captain Trips, wipes out most of the world’s population. The survivors find themselves divided into two factions: those who are drawn to the benevolent and elderly Mother Abagail, and those who follow the sinister and enigmatic Randall Flagg.
The narrative follows a diverse group of characters as they navigate the aftermath of the pandemic and the ensuing struggle between good and evil. The survivors must confront not only the physical challenges of a decaying world but also the supernatural forces at play, personified by the charismatic and malevolent figure of Randall Flagg.
