The Plays of Oscar Wilde is a collection of all of Oscar Wilde’s plays, including his early tragedy Vera (1880), the controversial Salome (1891), and his undisputed masterpiece, The Importance of Being Earnest (1895). The book also includes Wilde’s lesser-known plays A Woman of No Importance (1893), An Ideal Husband (1895), La Sainte Courtisane (1894), and A Florentine Tragedy (1896).
The book is edited by Anne Varty, a professor of English literature at Royal Holloway, University of London. Varty provides an introduction to the plays, as well as notes on each play.
