Description
An extremely rare out of print book which during its original run had very limited prints. It tells the account of Society of Jesus founded by the Portuguese after coming to India in 1510 which was tasked with evangelizing the Mogul Empire. The story of their efforts, from the earliest mission in 1580 to their eventual disappearance in 1803, is the subject matter of this book.
The book also lightly touches on the activities of the Jesuits in the outlying areas of the Mogul dominions, such as Bengal and Gujarat. The efforts of the mission to evangelize Tibet has been dealt with in the final chapter.
