Description

“Sleeping Murder” is a mystery novel by Agatha Christie, featuring her famous detective character, Miss Jane Marple. It was first published in 1976, posthumously, as Christie passed away in 1976. The novel is the last Miss Marple mystery and one of the final novels written by Agatha Christie.

The story revolves around a young woman named Gwenda Reed, who returns to England with her husband after living in New Zealand. They decide to buy a house, and as they start renovating it, Gwenda begins to have unsettling visions of a murder that occurred in the house many years ago. She seeks the help of Miss Marple to unravel the mystery behind her visions and discover the truth about the past.

As with many of Agatha Christie’s works, “Sleeping Murder” is known for its intricate plot, cleverly placed clues, and the surprising twist that is revealed towards the end. Miss Marple uses her sharp observational skills and knowledge of human nature to solve the mystery.

While “Sleeping Murder” is the last Miss Marple novel published, it is not the last one Christie wrote. “Miss Marple’s Final Cases and Two Other Stories,” a short story collection, was published posthumously in 1979 and included additional Miss Marple stories.

If you enjoy classic whodunits and cleverly crafted mysteries, especially those featuring Agatha Christie’s iconic detective Miss Marple, “Sleeping Murder” is likely to be an engaging read.
