Camille, who works for a newspaper in Chicago, is not only confronted with the unsettling task of reporting on the murders but also has to deal with her troubled past and strained relationships with her family. As she investigates the crimes, she becomes entangled in the dark secrets of her own history and the disturbing dynamics of her hometown.

The novel delves into themes such as family dysfunction, psychological trauma, and the impact of small-town dynamics on individuals. Flynn is known for her intricate storytelling and ability to create complex, flawed characters. “Sharp Objects” is no exception, offering a gripping and atmospheric narrative that keeps readers on the edge of their seats.

In addition to the novel, “Sharp Objects” was adapted into a television miniseries in 2018, with Amy Adams in the lead role as Camille Preaker. The adaptation received critical acclaim for its portrayal of the novel’s dark and suspenseful atmosphere.

  1. Pankaj Kumar Singh (Verified Purchase)

This one is a dark and disturbing psychological thriller from, for many, the reigning queen of the dark and the disturbing. Almost all the characters are flawed – some a lot more scarily than the others. The narrative irresistibly pulls the reader into the deep, dark, dungeons of the lead characters’ minds. The ending holds a twist that took me by surprise, by the sheer abruptness of its coming.

  2. Ajay Birua (Verified Purchase)

It was a very nicely written novel based on life of journalists and small town housewives. I loved it but I gotta say it was quite predictable. But Climax really took my breath away.

A fine and one of best thrillers published in recent times. Delivery was prompt and packing was good; but, quality of page and print are below average at best, the book even smells a bit.
