Description
The Oxford Book of English Verse 1250-1950 is a revised and expanded edition of the original Oxford Book of English Verse, edited by Arthur Quiller-Couch. The new edition was edited by Helen Gardner and first published in 1950. It includes a wider selection of poets and poems, covering a longer period of time, from the Middle Ages to the mid-twentieth century. The anthology contains over a thousand poems by more than two hundred poets, including William Shakespeare, John Donne, William Wordsworth, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, T.S. Eliot, W.H. Auden, and many others. The book is considered a classic anthology of English poetry and is widely used in schools and universities as a reference work for students of English literature.
