Description

“Norwegian Wood” is a novel written by the acclaimed Japanese author Haruki Murakami. It was originally published in Japanese in 1987 under the title “ノルウェイの森” (Noruwei no Mori), and it has since become one of Murakami’s most popular and widely read works. The English translation, by Jay Rubin, was published in 2000.

The novel is a coming-of-age story set in Tokyo during the late 1960s. It follows the life of the protagonist, Toru Watanabe, as he reflects on his youth and the experiences that shaped him. The narrative is framed by Toru’s memories of his college days and his romantic relationships, particularly his deep and complicated love for two women: Naoko, a fragile and troubled young woman, and Midori, a vibrant and unpredictable classmate.

  1. Arun Kirade (Verified Purchase)

A tale of love, sadness & tragedy that life is. Vintage Murakami & yet different from his other works in many ways. Must read for his fans.

  2. keerthana pankajakshsn (Verified Purchase)

Murakami doesn’t disappoint. But if you’ve read his other works, this one might boil down to just a love story. The writing is of course great. But the story, however much you try to look at it differently, is in the end a love story.

delivery is amazing. And, the book was good. This was my first Harukami and I think I would read more of his book.

  4. sowmya (Verified Purchase)

The first Murakami book I’ve ever read. And then… I fell in love with his writing. You’ll feel that sansation in first few pages of the book, and then just go with the flow.
    A must read book.

  5. Likun Dalai (Verified Purchase)

Amazing heart-wrenching story! The details captured by Murakami is breathtakingly beautiful. I received the book in good condition.
