Description
Even in his own day, Michelangelo was recognized by his contemporary Giorgio Vasari as having surpassed all other artists, including the great masters of the past. He excelled as a sculptor, painter and architect and was also gifted as a poet. The information presented in this book is arranged in double-page spreads, each a chapter in its own right, devoted to an aspect of the life and art of Michelangelo or the major artistic and cultural developments of his time. Each spread concerns a main theme, gives a chronological account of events in Michelangelo’s life, and includes photographs, reproductions of drawings and other works of art which enlarge on the central theme.
