Description
Today, Leonardo Da Vinci is best known for two works of The Mona Lisa, (La Gioconda) at present in the Louvre, and “The Last Supper” which is in the refectory (dining area) of the Dominican Convent at Santa Maria delle Grazie, Milan, Italy. During his lifetime he was known also as a sculptor, architect, scientist, musician, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, geologist, astronomer, cartographer, botanist, historian and writer. In his lifetime, he was noted for his creation and construction of war machines and battlement fortifications. He also imagined and noted the possibility of human flight – 400 before the Wright brothers flew at Kitty Hawk. He is considered perfect representation of the “Renaissance Man” and also as one of the most distinctly talented individuals to have ever lived in the West. Examples of his work are highlighted in this 80 page booklet. The editor/author of this version of Leonardo’s life, Raffaele Monti, offers a scholarly description of his life, and descriptions and locations for all of the 80 color plates. Beautifully done.
