The novel follows the story of John Smith, who is actually a member of an alien race called the Loric. He and eight other Loric children were sent to Earth as infants to escape their home planet’s destruction by a hostile alien race known as the Mogadorians. Each of the nine children has a special power, and they are destined to save their race and their planet.
However, the Mogadorians have followed them to Earth and are hunting them down one by one, in order. John is Number Four, and as the story begins, he is living in Paradise, Ohio, under the guise of a human teenager. He meets a girl named Sarah and makes a friend named Sam, but he must constantly stay on the move to avoid being caught by the Mogadorians.
As John’s powers begin to develop, he realizes that he may be the only hope for his race. Along with his protector and mentor, Henri, and a mysterious girl named Six who is also a Loric, John must fight to survive and protect those he loves.
“I Am Number Four” is a fast-paced and action-packed novel that combines science fiction, adventure, and romance. It has been adapted into a film and a graphic novel series.
