“Foundation’s Edge” is a science fiction novel by Isaac Asimov, published in 1982. It is the fourth book in the Foundation series, which is part of Asimov’s broader Robot, Empire, and Foundation series—a collection of interconnected stories that make up a grand science fiction saga.
In “Foundation’s Edge,” the story is set several hundred years after the events of the original Foundation trilogy. The Foundation, led by Golan Trevize, is trying to find the elusive Second Foundation, whose location has been lost to time. Trevize is motivated by a feeling that the Second Foundation is manipulating events in the galaxy.
As the plot unfolds, Trevize is accompanied by Janov Pelorat, a historian, and Bliss, a former member of the alien race known as Gaia.
