Description
“Foundation and Earth” is a science fiction novel written by Isaac Asimov. It was first published in 1986 and is part of Asimov’s Foundation Series, which also includes the original Foundation Trilogy (“Foundation,” “Foundation and Empire,” and “Second Foundation”) and later additions like “Foundation’s Edge” and “Prelude to Foundation.”
In “Foundation and Earth,” the protagonist Golan Trevize, who was introduced in “Foundation’s Edge,” continues his quest to find the mythical planet Earth. The novel explores the search for humanity’s origin and the mysteries surrounding Earth, which has been lost to the people of the Galactic Empire for thousands of years.
Asimov’s Foundation Series is highly regarded in the science fiction genre, and “Foundation and Earth” continues the narrative that delves into themes of psychohistory (a fictional science combining history, sociology, and mathematical statistics), politics, and the fate of civilizations in a vast galactic empire.
