Description
The arrest of Sir Roger Casement on a charge of high treason and his subsequent trial, still remain the subject of controversy. He was accused of attempting to recruit Irish prisoners of war in Germany to fight for independence against the British. After a sensational trial, he was hanged.
In this revised edition of his original account, author offers the reader a definitive record of a state of trial of outstanding political importance. Much new documentary material, including Casement’s diaries, became available in 1959, and this volume contains a representative selection of entries from the hitherto unpublished diary of 1911, as well as Casement’s interrogation at Scotland Yard.
