Description
“Asterix and the Great Crossing” (original title: “Astérix et le Grand Passage”) is the twenty-second volume in the Asterix comic book series, written by René Goscinny and illustrated by Albert Uderzo. This installment was first published in 1975.
In this adventure, Asterix, Obelix, and their friends embark on a journey to help their friend, the village’s bard Cacofonix, fulfill his dream of becoming a famous musician in America (which they mistakenly believe to be on the other side of the ocean). They build a ship and set sail, encountering various obstacles and adventures along the way.
The comic humorously explores themes of exploration, cultural misunderstandings, and the clash of civilizations. As with other Asterix adventures, it is filled with puns, witty dialogue, and humorous situations, all set against the backdrop of ancient Gaul during the time of the Roman Empire.
