Description
“Asterix and the Actress” is the 31st volume in the popular French comic book series “Asterix,” created by writer René Goscinny and artist Albert Uderzo. The book was published in 2001, six years after the death of Goscinny.
In this installment, Asterix and his friend Obelix are tasked with escorting a famous Roman actress named Latraviata to a performance in Rome. However, they soon discover that Latraviata is actually a spy for Julius Caesar, who hopes to use her to gather information about the Gauls.
As they travel through Italy, Asterix and Obelix encounter various challenges and obstacles, including an encounter with pirates and a run-in with a rival troupe of actors. Along the way, they also get caught up in a love triangle involving Latraviata and two Roman officials.
As with previous Asterix books, “Asterix and the Actress” is filled with humor, puns, and historical references. The book also features the trademark colorful illustrations and detailed backgrounds that have made the series so popular. Despite the loss of Goscinny, Uderzo continued the series and created several more Asterix adventures before retiring in 2009.
