Description
And the Walls Came Tumbling Down is a non-fiction book by Jack Fishman about a daring World War II mission. It details the true story of Charles Piquard, a French Resistance leader, who with the help of a ragtag group of spies, thieves, shot-down airmen, prostitutes, pickpockets, and forgers, planned and executed a daring daylight bombing raid to liberate over 700 French prisoners from Amiens Prison in northern France. The prison was being targeted by the Allies because the Germans were believed to be holding important information there.
The book was first published in 1982 and has been praised for its suspenseful narrative and its portrayal of the courage and ingenuity of the French Resistance.
