Description

In this generation-defining self-help guide, a superstar blogger cuts through the crap to show us how to stop trying to be “positive” all the time so that we can truly become better, happier people

For decades, we’ve been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. “Fuck positivity,” Mark Manson says. “Let’s be honest, shit is fucked and we have to live with it.” In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn’t sugar-coat or equivocate. He tells it like it is—a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F**k is his antidote to the coddling, let’s-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected

I was skeptical about the name of the book and bought this book thinking it was about a ‘who cares mentalility’ and not caring. After reading it, realized t approaches ithe opposite then most self help books. Its unorhtodox in using the language in ways that create a different perspective.

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*** is a self help book at heart. Using the word F*** on the cover and then excessively throughout the first chapter is the authors tactic to draw you into his world. After the first chapter or so he settles down quite a bit on the language and makes some very good points.

The book seemed to hone in having perspective, utilizing your given ability to choose where you will place your attention, emotions and such, gives you the ideal permission to not know, yet be ok with knowing things but open to knowing more. Tells you that it’s ok to “just do”, with perspective, but to
understand although being understood is partly life, be responsible for what we feel and how perceive others and to just accept things. Touched on getting to root causes of issues in a way that we must know why, to know how to not recreate what isn’t optimal. It lacked certain ideas on an acceptable time of grief, but feel like it stated it’s one thing to have a thought, it’s another thing to build a home and live in those thoughts.

  4. Chaitanya Burman (Verified Purchase)

xtremely overhyped book. I don’t think people who have given it positive rating has ever read it.

  5. Aravind PS (Verified Purchase)

Having read a lot of self help books I can safely say that Subtle Art is perhaps the only book in this genre which is worth reading. I think the language it use to convey the point is so powerful that it works for people like me where other books failed.
