  1. Arkaprava Karmakar (Verified Purchase)

I ended up finishing this book in a few hours, and it was a good and interesting read. I tend to go and re-read certain books again, but this book sadly, is not one of them, just because I have read better versions of the Mahabharata. Although I would certainly recommend it for a read atleast once.

  2. Dheeraj Kumar (Verified Purchase)

This book was a pure pleasure to read!! The author’s prose was phenomenal and her characters were robust and full of life. Taking an epic such as the Mahabharat and coloring it with one’s own perspective, yet still keeping the integrity of it intact is no small feat.

  3. Sayan Gupta (Verified Purchase)

If you prefer a classic with a strong literary language and perfect female articulation, Yajnaseni is definitely a better read. But if you prefer an easy flowing book, the palace of Illusions is definitely a one time read.

  4. Arun Rko (Verified Purchase)

This novel by Houston-based Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, retells the famed Mahabharata from the woman’s standpoint. The plot moves forcefully. The writing is descriptive without slowing the action too much. The characters, particularly the five brothers, are well-drawn, and the first-person voice of Draupadi provides touching insight without melodrama.

  5. Pavani Priyamvadhana (Verified Purchase)

This is a book that will engage you till the very end. You will fondly remember the story and characters for a long time to come. Chitra has done an amazing job in this and for me this book will always hold a special place in my heart.
