Description

An instant classic, this revised and updated edition of the phenomenal bestseller dispels the myths about starting your own business. Small business consultant and author Michael E. Gerber, with sharp insight gained from years of experience, points out how common assumptions, expectations, and even technical expertise can get in the way of running a successful business.

Gerber walks you through the steps in the life of a business—from entrepreneurial infancy through adolescent growing pains to the mature entrepreneurial perspective: the guiding light of all businesses that succeed—and shows how to apply the lessons of franchising to any business, whether or not it is a franchise. Most importantly, Gerber draws the vital, often overlooked distinction between working on your business and working in your business.

Helpful Entrepreneurs and people thinking about becoming entrepreneurs ought to read this book to gain perspective, but don't expect to find a magic bullet solution. Gerber thinks all small businesses should operate with a franchise mentality; that is, basing the business on repeatable, profitable systems rather than on the personality of the owner.

art of small business Although I was slightly put-off by long-winded digressions and melodrama, I still have to strongly recommend "The E-Myth" to its target audience.

Nice Book First off, this book is about "why most small business fail and what to do about it". Those looking for good books to start a business should consider other books available online. Secondly its too long but the tips given by author are quite helpful.

It makes so much sense This book was written several years ago and perhaps not for Indian audience. Yet I find it amazing that how the ideas mentioned in book are so practical even for small businesses in India. One has to go through this book patiently but its worth the read.

An extremely well written book If you're a business owner, or wanna be, I would suggest reading this book. If you've been in business for many years, I'd suggest reading this book twice. It will make you see things, like possibilities, not just error correction, that you might have wondered about but weren't sure how to go.

stars A recipe for entrepreneurs If you're an entrepreneur - or think you are - this is book will tell you how to get the full potential from your business. You may also learn you're not really an entrepreneur by the author's definition, but he gives you the process to get there.

Gold Standard my review isn't meant to say Gerber is 100% correct on everything and his further services should be used. But, if you open a small business, or abandon a business that is troubled, without reading this book you are making a mistake.

Very important key concepts for small business. This is a book that led me to see small business in a whole different, much more strategic, light. The author’s premise is that small business owners burn out and fail because they do not know how to delegate work, do not create durable business systems, and often only work IN but not ON their business for the long term. However, I did find myself having to speed through numerous parts due to cheesy and often forced dialogue between the author, and his foil, the small business owner of a Pie Company named, “Sarah.”

Small Business: MythBuster What sets this book apart is the analysis that the author performs, through a sample business, of issues small business owners encounter. This includes the different personas the owner takes on, as well as the evolution of the business through the maturity cycle. This analysis is what allows the readers to appreciate and embrace the proposed prototype framework that the author then introduces as key to success.

Good Book. Great Information I was grateful that I bought this book because there is a lot of useful information in it regarding what is necessary for small businesses to succeed and the most needed steps to do so. Also, it talks about why small businesses fail and how to get out of your business/products before taking a huge hit. I would also like to appreciate the service of Oldbookshop. The book was delivered in 2 days. Quite impressive.

Life changing Is it perfect? No - it's seriously cringy when the author talks about how beautiful and youthful his protege is. But other than that, I love it and recommended it to all small business owners. Read it.
