Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone is the first novel of the much appreciated Harry Potter series. An abridged version of the same novel, this book has been brought out by Bloomsbury Press for children aged between eight and twelve years.

The story unfolds with a letter arriving for Harry Potter, a simple boy, that brings with it a dark secret. The letter reveals to Harry Potter that both his parents were wizards and were killed by a Dark Lord’s curse when he was just a baby.

Extremely rare edition to find these days. I was searching for this book for a long time. The book was packed well and came in good condition. There was minor issues but i can’t expect a 20 years old copy to be in mint conditon.

  2. Vipan Kumar (Verified Purchase)

Its almost impossible to get this book in such a great condition. I am very impressed.

  3. Jyoti Rani (Verified Purchase)

Very rare edition and I got it for dirt cheap price. Conditon was good considering its a 17 years old book.

This was a fun and very fast read. I believe it was originally written for a younger audience, and it shows, with a lot of transparently silly names for people, places and things. There is a lot of detail in some aspects, almost none in others. As escapist fantasy work goes, this is better than most, but I’m not sure I’ll read the rest of the series (even though it is set up to encourage exactly that).

  5. Indrajit Dey (Verified Purchase)

Amazing doesn’t quite fit this book. Though stupendous, inspiring, wonderful and incredible don’t quite describe it either it is so much better than all these words put together. If you have not read this book please pick it up. Do not let anyone else’s negative opinion keep you from reading this book. It has so much going for it. It’s about friendship, bravery, courage, love, family and so many other good things. The magic of Harry Potter has reached all over the world and touched a lot of hearts.
