Description

Set during the middle of 1950s, ‘Go Set a Watchman’ brings on to life several characters from her famous novel ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ yet again after a long span of two decades.

The novel begins with Scout (Jean Louis Finch) returning from New York to Maycomb to visit her father Atticus. The crux of the novel lies in her attempt to get in terms with some personal as well as political issues as she tries to understand her affinity to her birthplace—a place where she spent her entire childhood—and her father’s attitude towards the society.

An instant classic, as referred to by many, ‘Go Set a Watchman’ contains the same humour and refined verse that is true to Lee’s style. Published on July, 2015 by Random House Publisher, this book is available in hard cover version.

The book by itself s a good read. If compared to ‘to kill a mockingbird’, then, yes…This book doesn’t have the same feel in terms f the story plot, development f characters as the other.
That said, I would still recommend the book to anyone who enjoyed reading prose the way Harper Lee wrote it.

  2. Shivam Pandey (Verified Purchase)

Comparison with TKAM is but natural. I heard a lot about this book, someone went as far as to say why did Lee have to ruin the idealistic image of Atticus that we all nurtured. Well, my image of Atticus is still intact. That said, some sub-conscious change may still occur. Read the book and see what you a make of it.
I’d recommend everyone who loved TKAM to read this one too.

  3. Harmanjit Attri (Verified Purchase)

A very simple yet beautiful story of a child finding her own way in the world and how she grows out of her father’s shadow to form her own conscience. Not exactly at par with To Kill A Mocking Bird, but, a decent successor nevertheless that helps to preserve the legacy.
