Description
“Full Circle” is a novelization of the classic Doctor Who episode of the same name, written by Andrew Smith and originally broadcast in 1980. The story is part of the show’s eighteenth season and features the Fourth Doctor (played by Tom Baker) and his companions Romana and K-9.
The Doctor and his companions arrive on a planet called Alzarius, which is in the process of undergoing a “mistfall” – a dangerous phenomenon that causes the creatures of the planet’s marshy landscape to become more aggressive. The Doctor and Romana soon discover that the planet is not what it seems and that its inhabitants are not native to Alzarius. Instead, they are descendants of a crashed spaceship that arrived on the planet centuries ago.
As the Doctor and Romana investigate further, they uncover a sinister plot involving the spaceship’s original crew and the planet’s indigenous life forms. They must work together with the Alzarians to prevent a catastrophic collision between the two species and unravel the mysteries of Alzarius.
Andrew Smith’s novelization of “Full Circle” stays faithful to the original episode’s storyline, but also expands upon it, offering additional insights into the characters and their motivations. The book is well-written and captures the tone and atmosphere of the original episode, making it a must-read for fans of classic Doctor Who.
