Description

The book, ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid – 3 The Last Straw’ is a part of the book series – ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’ written by Jeff Kinney. The book series revolves around the kid Greg Heffley who is naughty, honest and charming in his own way. The book has been written to portray the journey of Greg whose life is laden with exciting and adrenaline pumping adventures. This particular book talks about Greg’s training on how to become a tough man and the various troubles he faces during this journey. It has been published by Penguin UK publishers.

The underlying feature of this book is the insecurity faced by Greg’s father when he sees other kids. He tends to compare Greg with them, often feeling a sense of disappointment. Life for Greg is already harsh as their school bus has been re-zoned and he has to walk all the way to school. To add to the worries, Greg’s father decides that his son must become a man and hence pushes him to do thing against his will.

First, he signs him up for Rec league soccer and expects him to become a good player in no time. But, the story takes a turn for the worst as Greg concedes a goal and ends his team’s perfect season. This comes as no surprise that he had failed to concentrate on the ball, as he was busy picking dandelions. Then, his father sends Greg to a summer military school program which takes its toll. However, Greg has decided not to join the military school with the view of impressing his father as quickly as he can. But will he be able to convince his father? Or will his father finally be able to make a man out of Greg on his own terms? This is a fascinating children’s book which will leave the readers hooked.

A must read book for boys and girls aged between 8-15. Guardian should try to imbibe reading habit to their children by introducing this book to start with.

Gave it to my nephew. Loves this series and I love that he’s reading instead of staring at the tv. Its a cross between comics and a book, perhaps the reason kids love this series.

  3. Ritika Jaiswal (Verified Purchase)

  4. Amir Khan (Verified Purchase)

Wimpy kid is legend. Its far too funny and entertaining for something as mundane as a diary. Illustrations complement the work very well. Short and will make you want to read more of wimpy kid
