Description
“Cell” is a novel written by Stephen King, published in 2006. The story is a post-apocalyptic horror novel that explores the effects of a mysterious signal transmitted through cell phones that turns people into violent, zombie-like creatures. The novel follows the journey of a group of survivors as they attempt to navigate this new and dangerous world.
The protagonist, Clay Riddell, is an artist who becomes stranded in Boston when the signal is transmitted, causing chaos and destruction as people turn into “phoners” driven by a violent and mindless impulse. Clay, along with a small group of survivors, embarks on a journey to find safety and to discover the origins of the signal.
Stephen King is known for his skill in creating vivid and unsettling horror stories, and “Cell” is no exception. The novel explores themes of technology, communication, and the breakdown of society in the face of a cataclysmic event. It has been both praised and criticized for its intense and graphic depictions of violence, as is typical in many of King’s works.
In 2016, a film adaptation of “Cell” was released, starring John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson. While the film shared some similarities with the novel, it also had significant differences in terms of the story and characters.
