Description
“Asterix and the Black Gold” (original title: “Astérix et le Chariot de Thélonius”) is the twenty-sixth volume in the Asterix comic book series, created by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo. It was first published in 1981.
In this adventure, the story revolves around a crucial ingredient in the magic potion that gives the Gauls their superhuman strength: a type of rock oil that only Asterix’s village possesses. When the Romans discover this, they plot to steal the recipe for the potion. However, the Gauls, led by Asterix and Obelix, are determined to thwart their plans.
The adventure takes them to the Middle East, where they encounter various challenges, including encounters with spies, Bedouin tribes, and the Roman legions. As always, the story is filled with humor, puns, and cultural references, while also providing a satirical commentary on contemporary issues.
