An overview of the Ancient East from the 2nd millennium B.C., a geographical spread which Hogarth limits to five regions: Asia Minor in the east, Armenia and Mesopotamia in the west as far as the mid-point of Iran, Syria in the centre, and Arabia in the south, from which many Semitic tribes migrated but little recorded history exists.
